The Giving Tree
The Giving Tree is a book generally
geared towards children, written by Shel Silverstein about a friendship.
The main character is a boy who has a strong friendship with a tree and
throughout his life he goes back to the tree looking for comfort or aid.
Most people read it to children at young ages, and the animation from
the tree gives young children ground for imagination developments, but
if read at an older age the reader can gain much more than a basic plot.
Adolescents can relate to the boy having to leave a childhood memory and
older adults can relate having already passed the stage. In the story
the tree has something to offer to the boy at all ages as does this book.
