The Good People of
New York
The Good People of New York,
by Thisbe Nissen, is a coming of age reality novel. The book itself could,
in my opinion, be put into two sections. The first section is about the
life of the main charcters parents, Roz and Edwin and their strong love,
and life together. The second explains the life of Miranda, and how after
she is born, Roz's love for her becomes so obssive that she jeprodizes
her realtionship with her hudband, Edwin. Each chapter takes you through
a journey of a girl living her life from the begining of her birth, to
summer camp, from school plays and first love, best friends and drugs,
to attraction toward step siblings and teachers. This book was so enjoyable
because it showed the life of a girl, but the way she would really be
living it, without the added drama that might captivate a reader more,
but offset the consistency and actuality of the story. While reading this
book, you can learn something about yourself that you might not have seen.
For me it was how normal those teen habits might actually be.
