The Perks of Being a Wallflower
"The Perks of Being a
Wallflower" by Stephen Chbosky is a fiction-reality tale about a
young boy, Charlie, figuring out how to grow up. Aside from all the normal
things teenagers have to deal with, Charlie has to sort through mixed
influences from his older and cooler friends, his older siblings, his
parents, and people from his past. It's a lot of fun to learn about all
the things going on in Charlie's life, from normal-seeming things like
a nice walk home or a day at school, to a trip to The Rocky Horror Picture
Show, a first-time drug experience, or a date. Chbosky uses great descriptive,
insightful writing to create a story that I didn't put down until I was
done.
