The Black Swan The Black Swan, written by Mercedes Lackey, is a rendition of The Swan Princess. It's about a Baron who, after his wife's untimely death, takes revenge against all women he considers untrue. He tracks down women who have been unfaithful to their men; once he finds them, he enchants them so they're swans by day, and fair maidens by night, except they're not allowed to leave the Baron's grounds. He has his daughter Odile watch over them. His most prized capture is Odette (the Swan Princess), who had been a princess before she was seized by the Baron. This book is about the struggles the flock goes through, and the change of Odile's loyalty from within her father to that of the flock. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fictional literature that's full of magic, loyalty, betrayal and romance.
